Superintendents Message

We are pleased to roll out the newest version of the Maplewood Schools webpage. This interactive webpage is designed to be user friendly and a vehicle of communication for our parents and community members covering topics such as academics, athletics, band, choir, transportation, cafeteria and other student programs.

We are anticipating another rewarding school year. Our students and faculty will be faced with many academic challenges. We have performed extremely well on the state mandated tests. Our performance index score, which is the level of achievement by our students, is the highest of all districts in Trumbull, Ashtabula, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

There are many changes to the OAA exam. School districts will no longer be compared on the basis of reaching excellent with distinction, excellent, continuous improvement, academic watch and academic emergency. There are now nine new categories to the report card. These categories can be accessed by clicking on the report card link on the home page. We will be providing you with links to the Ohio Department of Education on the MANY changes to the means of assessing and reporting student achievement.

There is nothing more valuable than the education of our children. Our focus remains creating and maintaining a learning environment that promotes the greatest opportunity for student learning at the highest level.

Have a great year of learning.

Educationally,

Perry Nicholas
