Maplewood Local Schools has earned a 5-Star Overall Rating on the latest Ohio School Report Card, the highest overall rating awarded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
Ohioβs report card system evaluates districts and schools through several components measuring student achievement, academic growth, graduation rates, early literacy, the closing of educational gaps and preparation for future opportunities.
Maplewood earned five stars in four major areas: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing and Graduation. A five-star rating indicates that the district significantly exceeded state standards in each of those areas.
The districtβs Achievement rating reflects how well students performed on state assessments, while the Progress component measures the academic growth students made based on their previous performance. Maplewoodβs five-star Gap Closing rating recognizes the districtβs success in reducing educational gaps among student groups.
The district also earned five stars in Graduation, demonstrating its continued success in helping students earn their diplomas within four or five years.
Maplewood received three stars in Early Literacy, meeting state standards for reading improvement and proficiency among students in kindergarten through third grade. The district also earned four stars in College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness, exceeding state standards in preparing students for opportunities after graduation.
βThis 5-Star Overall Rating is a reflection of the hard work and dedication demonstrated each day by our students, teachers, staff members and families,β Superintendent Kevin OβConnell said. βWe are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful to our entire Maplewood community for its continued support as we help every student grow, succeed and prepare for the future.β
