🚀 Our Rocket SMASH Students Are Making a Difference!

SMASH — Students Making A Safer Highway — participants Kaitlyn Benton, Kaitlyn Manes, Hope Conley, and Harley Agardi have completed their first project: posters that will be presented to their classmates, each demonstrating one of the pillars of SMASH.

The program meets monthly at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, where students from districts across the county work together to promote safer highways for everyone! 🚀🛣️

🚀MES Picture Retake Day will be Monday, October 27!

🔥 Our elementary students had a fantastic time learning all about fire safety during Fire Safety Day! 🚒🔥
A huge thank you to our local fire departments for taking the time to visit, teach, and inspire our students. ❤️👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

🌍✈️ Our high school students have the opportunity to take learning to a whole new level — virtually! Using VR headsets that were acquired through a grant, Mr. Dudley’s Geography students explored destinations like the Grand Canyon, Iceland, Greece, and more. This hands-on experience lets them travel the world without ever leaving the classroom!

🚀 Reminder, Rockets!
There will be no school on Friday, October 10th, in observance of NEOEA Day.

Our 1st Graders had an a-peel-ing day celebrating Johnny Appleseed’s birthday with a field trip to Hartford Orchard! 🍎 From learning about apples to enjoying the orchard, it was the perfect way to celebrate and learn.

Perfect way to cap off the Pink Game with a W! Great job, Rockets! 🚀⚽🩷

🚀 Last week at Maplewood Elementary, we wrapped up Start With Hello Week! Thanks to these incredible sixth graders, who were the fuel behind this mission. A simple "hello" has the power to launch new friendships!

🎉 Our MES students had a blast at the NED Assembly! 🎉
Here’s Mrs. Giesy’s class with NED himself! 🌟

The NED Assembly shares an inspiring message for students: Never give up, Encourage others, and Do their best. The excitement starts with the assembly and continues all year long, promoting a culture of kindness and excellence at MES.

🚀 And they’re off!
Our kindergartners had a fantastic first couple of days, and we’re so excited for all the adventures ahead. Go Rockets! 💙✨

🎉 Welcome, Miss Stephens!
As a brand-new graduate, she is beyond excited to begin her teaching career at Maplewood as a K-3 Intervention Specialist! Miss Stephens is thrilled to join the Maplewood School Family and can’t wait to watch her students grow this year alongside such a supportive staff. Go Rockets! 🚀💙

Our incoming kindergarteners recently visited to acclimate to the building and the school bus! They played games, read stories, enjoyed snacks, and learned the rules of the hallway, bathroom, playground, and other essential spaces in the school. We can’t wait to officially welcome our newest Rockets on September 2! 🚀🚀
